Hand Control Unit
The easist way to attach the side rails is to press the bent edges on to
the bars one at a time.
To remove the side rails take hold of the side and pull upwards.
The side rail, when not in use, should always hang on rod under roller.
Mounting of the Slide Sheet The slide sheet reduces the friction against the mattress and thereby the electricity consumption when using the VENDLET.
Stretch the elastic in the corner of the slide sheet round the mattress.
Make sure the surface is smooth and even without wrinkles or creases.
Assemble velcro straps around the steel frame under the mattress.
It is important that the straps be installed around the steel frame under the mattress and
not around the bed frame, since the bed back, knee and leg cannot then be raised.
The straps are long enough to use on extra thick mattresses.
Ensure velcro straps do not hold the slide sheet too tight, as this can reduce the function of the mattress (Note: An air mattress should be inflated).
Inspect slide sheet regularly for excessive wear from frequent use.
A slide sheet in poor condition increases friction with the mattress and can increase the risk of pressure ulcers.
Mounting of the Turning Sheet
Place the turning sheet in the middle of the bed with the velcro down.
Fasten the turning sheet to the velcro straps on the roller. Start at the head end and work down toward the foot end.
The turn sheet must always roll OVER the roller. This prevents catching the patient's hands, hair, etc. in the roller.
Also if the turning sheet rolls up from under the roller traction will be reduced. Do not pull the sheet as it will fit exactly on the bar.
Drive about three quarters of sheet into the roller using the hand control .
Fasten turning sheet onto the Velcro strip on the opposite roller.
Run the turning sheet into this roller using hand control until it is smooth on the mattress with the red stripe in the middle of the mattress.
It is recommended that the red stripe be placed in the middle of the mattress. This ensures maximum maneuverability during use of the VENDLET.
Side Rails Attachment The side rails are to hang securely between the mattress and the support on the inner side of the roller.
Note: See cautions in user manual.
Press and to
slacken the sheet on both rollers to allow for the plastic side rails to be pressed on to the rollers.
The side rails are to hang securely between the mattress and the support on the inner side of the roller.
Adjust the height of the bed to ensure correct posture when pressing the side rails on to the rollers.
The easiest way to attach the side rails is to slant them and press the bent edges on to the rollers one at a time.
Note! When the side rails are pressed on to the rollers, the spacer at the bottom of the side rail must be in line with the head or footboard to ensure that the patient does not get fingers etc. caught in the gap.
Site is therefore marked with a warning triangle.
Always attach the side rail at the foot of the bed before the side rail at the head of the bed. This prevents the patient from getting caught between the side rails.
Side Rail Removal
Adjust the height of the bed to ensure correct posture when removing the plastic side rails from the rollers.
To remove the side rails take hold of the side and pull upwards at an angle.
