The Libra bed is very durable (25 year life cycle) and has very low maintenance costs.
The Libra bed only utilises auto-retraction of the backrest that swings up and back when the bed profiles.
This minimises user migration down the bed during use of the chair position.
Thanks to Vario Safe, this care bed can be adapted continually to suit every personal preference (see video presentation).

Vario Safe For added flexibility and safety
Beds with Vario Safe fulfil the changing safety needs of residents and their look can be adapted to fit any personal preference.
The flexible safety side provides standard compliant protection without restricting the mobility of the person in need of care.
All Vario Safe elements are inserted in the bed frame and are attached with easy-to-operate fasteners.
Simply pull the fastener upward.
The fastener snaps into place securely — the element is attached.
To release the fastening, pull the orange protection and press the fastener down.
Should you choose the Libra bed with split safety sides or without safety sides, you will enjoy our flexible Vario Safe system.
The Vario Safe principle is as impressive as it is easy: The safety side elements, the headboard and footboard as well as side panels can be installed and removed without tools.
They are fitted with easy to operate fasteners that snap into place securely and cannot be actuated by residents by mistake.
The headboard, footboard and panels are also available with attractive fabric or synthetic leather upholstery.
Beds with Vario Safe can be adjusted in a matter of minutes to the changing requirements of residents.
Care facilities can order their beds in a basic version and add further parts at a later date.
A unique safe 24 Volt DC Dewert drive system is standard with the bed. Having the 240 volts isolated,
away from the bed and only safe 24 Volts DC at the bed ensures a safer environment for residents and maintenance staff.
Energy-saving — with low voltage
ESSENTIALLY BETTER
Energy saving
* Compared to 240-volt systems, assuming approx. 5 adjustments per day
The external transformer unit produces a safety extra-low voltage directly at the power socket.
The Libra bed is supplied with extra-low voltage as standard.
This is achieved with an external transformer that reduces the voltage directly at the power socket to 24-volts to ensure that there are no live 240 volt components near the resident.
This not only increases safety, but also significantly helps to reduce energy costs and electromagnetic pollution, and to protect the environment.
The floor access chassis model provides for excellent hoist and cleaning clearance.
Libra ground clearance Plus — High ground clearance for easy cleaning
With the ground clearance Plus variant, brooms and mops glide under the bed unimpeded.
Thorough and reliable hygiene is crucial in residential care —
to combat pathogens and allergies while creating a homelike atmosphere. There is no room for dirt and fluff under the bed.
The ground clearance Plus has a particularly streamlined chassis without metal support bars along the sides.
This makes thorough cleaning of the floor easier — brooms and mops glide under the bed unimpeded.

Always the right height — The lowest bed height is 25cm (suitable for Falls-risk clients) and the
highest bed height is 80cm (ensuring that nurses of different heights are not compromising their backs)
Always at the right height — Fall prevention and ergonomic care
With its lowest position of approx. 25cm, the Libra bed supports efficient fall prevention without restricting the mobility of the resident.
Libra is designed to give those in need of care a sense of security without impacting on their independence.
One of the most effective ways to prevent falls without the use of liberty deprivation safeguards (DoLS) is to use a bed with a low height.
For this reason, Libra can be lowered to a height of as little as approximately 25cm. The risk of injury from a fall from such a low height is extremely low.
However, when it comes to care staff, beds really need to be significantly higher, at waist level, to prevent excessive strain on the back.
This is why Libra beds can be raised to a height of approximately 80cm, which is the optimum height for working ergonomically.
The height adjustment mechanism’s 3-stop function is designed to automatically stop the bed when it is about 38cm high, which is the perfect height for getting in and out of bed.
Being infinitely variable, Libra’s height can be adjusted down to the nearest centimetre to meet every need.

With a height adjustment of up to 80 cm, the nursing staff can work with the bed without straining their back.

Comfort and mattress bases —With the joie de vivre of a hotel room
Libra is designed to make those in need of care feel safe and secure.
One of its main features that make it so is the precise way it can be adjusted to meet every individual need.
Sitting in a comfortable position to watch TV or talking to another person at eye level — this, and more, is possible with Libra.
Libra can be brought into a reverse-Trendelenburg position of up to 16° and its backrest raised to up to 70°, which means that it can easily be transformed into a comfortable armchair.
The benefit of the armchair position
In addition to assisting in the prevention of pressure areas, it also reduces the manual handling for both the client and staff
(reducing the risk of injury); by allowing the client to move from a lying position to a seated position without needing to be transferred.

allows the client to sit up and interact with their environment.
This makes it much easier for residents to join in with everyday activities.
With an optional handset Libra can also be brought into a Trendelenburg position whenever necessary.
The mattress surface is of robust steel construction (High SWL: 225kg) and designed to withstand vigorous aged care conditions.

Stable and flexible: the metal slat mattress base

Healthy and relaxing sleep
The Libra’s 4-section metal slat mattress base (standard) delivers an exceptional level of comfort and is both sturdy and flexible at the same time.
The adjustable backrest and thigh rest section can be easily raised and lowered to provide the resident with the greatest comfort in every situation.
The metal slats are extremely easy to clean and can be made even more comfortable and hygienic with our optional mattress base covers.
The comfort mattress base (optional) comprises 50 individual spring elements. These elements are designed to mould themselves closely to the shape of the body and help to ventilate the mattress.
Their oscillation also ensures that the pressure is optimally distributed. The comfort mattress base also significantly contributes to preventing pressure ulcers.
Thanks to its deep venting slits, the polypropylene hygiene mattress base (optional) is also highly breathable. It is easy to remove and can be cleaned with conventional cleaning agents.
Bed extension: Side elements of various lengths to suit every taste
Libra beds with bed extensions and the Vario Safe system can be fitted with two 110 cm-long safety side elements on each side of the bed.
It is also possible to combine a 90-cm safety side with a 130-cm side panel.
Libra’s optional mattress base extension, you can provide the necessary space required for residents.
Bed extension— More room for tall residents
People have been growing taller on average for decades now – a development that must increasingly be taken into account in nursing homes.
With Libra’s optional bed extension, you can provide the necessary space required for residents to enjoy a comfortable lying position.
You can either configure the bed to be approx. 20 cm longer upon purchase, or retrofit it with the bed extension.
The element for bed extension is simply inserted in the bed frame.
A custom-made mattress extension piece is available to extend the mattress.
The metal element that extends the bed frame is simply inserted at the foot end.
Longer bars or panels are available for each type of safety side. If the bed is equipped with a split safety side using the Vario Safe system,
each side of the bed can be fitted with either two 110 cm long elements or one 90 cm long safety side with a 130 cm panel.
With Vario Safe, using bed extensions at home has become even more flexible and efficient — all the required elements can be exchanged between beds in a matter of moments.
To extend the mattress, Stiegelmeyer offers a suitable comfortable mattress extension piece.
Libra — Easily and intuitively controlled with the handset
Intuitive handset with One-button for Chair position, a very useful feature on the Libra bed.
Effortless operation— Handset for individual requirements
Stiegelmeyer Libra Bed hand control. Only need to press one button to operate a function.
All of the Libra’s settings can be adjusted easily and intuitively when controlled with the Libra handset.
The Libra handset is very light and has an ergonomic design. It is fitted with extra–large arrow buttons and easy–to–understand pictograms to ensure that it can be used even by those with limited abilities.
Each different handset function can be individually locked. There are two options to place the bed in the Trendelenburg position: by using the standard handset with an integrated Trendelenburg button,
or by using an optionally available separate Trendelenburg handset.
This optional Trendelenburg handset is a safe way to prevent residents from accidentally activating this setting.
To prevent the resident from setting the bed to the Trendelenburg position by mistake,
a separate Trendelenburg handset is available (left). The standard handset (right) does not include the Trendelenburg function.
It is also possible to use an optional standard handset with an integrated Trendelenburg function (bottom right button).
Thanks to the holder on the split safety side, the handset is always within reach.

Safety Sides — Optimal balance between safety and freedom
The split safety side can be combined with homelike panels.
The split safety side can be combined with homelike panels.
The 4 elements of the split safety side can be raised separately in two stages.
If the person in need of care has to be able to leave the bed when the safety sides are raised, it is recommended to use a system with split elements.
The telescopic split safety side elements can be effortlessly raised in two stages.
The first stage provides the resident with an orientation aid and the second stage offers comprehensive protection.
With this model, the 110cm-long head-end parts already fulfil the standard requirements for safety sides, as they cover more than 50% of the mattress base.
The sleek design of the split safety sides was intentionally reduced to the essentials:
The surfaces were designed in an elegant combination of wood and metal look which requires no additional side panels.
Thus, the bed is very easy to clean thoroughly. Homelike panels with wood decors or upholstery can be installed if no safety side elements are configured.
All elements can be installed and removed in a matter of seconds thanks to the Vario Safe system.
