Its intelligent modular system makes the Evario equally at home in any hospital unit.
A variety of control options, safety side systems, castors and head and footboards are brought together to form a practical and attractive versatile hospital bed
which addresses individual requirements while still providing excellent value for money.
The Evario is suitable not only for day-to-day patient care, but also for intensive care and for promoting a speedy recovery.
The Evario planar design and its optional machine washability contribute to its excellent hygiene characteristics which support hospitals in the fight against microorganisms.
Customised protection – the safety sides
Safety sides with their protective height of up to 41cm, also allow problem-free use of comfort mattresses,
anti-decubitus mattresses and alternating pressure systems.
The ¾ safety side covers a large proportion of the mattress base and in doing so provides a high level of safety (above left).
It is also space-saving, blends in discreetly and allows the patient an unobstructed view. Nursing staff can operate this safety side quickly and
intuitively with just one hand – a real advantage in situations where every second counts (above centre).
Raising and lowering the safety side hardly makes a sound and so does not disturb the patient.
The ¾ safety side incorporates a wall deflection roller at the foot end which protects the bed and furnishings from side-on collisions (above right).
The new Protega safety side is an alternative, developed by Stiegelmeyer, to provide a flexible response to patients’ needs.
The wing-shaped split safety side in high-grade plastic can be raised only at the head end or along the whole length of the mattress base (above left).
This forms an orientation aid or provides the patient with full protection. It only needs one hand to swing the safety side wings downwards in a quietly cushioned,
power assisted motion that takes up very little space along the side of the bed (above centre). The safety sides are ergonomically formed and pleasing to the touch.
Protega elements at the head end move along with any backrest adjustments and provide ideal protection even in a sitting position (above right).
The planar design provides extensive protection from entrapment and allows easy and thorough cleaning.
When the patient attempts to stand or walk for the first time, the steady handrail provides a useful support and promotes mobilisation.
Intuitive control as required
The Evario offers a choice of 2 control devices: an LCD handset (above left) and
a control unit that is firmly integrated in the Protega safety side (above right). Both devices are intuitive and clearly arranged.
If both are used within the hospital, care staff can switch from one to the other without having to adapt.
This enhances the versatility of Evario in many different hospital units.
Both the handset and the control unit offer various control levels for nursing staff and technicians.
They have a clear display unit with large arrows for selecting the various functions and easy-to-understand icons that can both be operated with just one hand.
Both are sturdy and easy to clean.
Nursing staff can optionally lock or enable control options on a locking box in the linen holder that also contains emergency functions.
There is also an additional alternative control unit available in the linen holder, which can also be used to adjust all electric functions.
The stylish slimline LCD handset
is attractive with its backlit display and only 3 buttons (left).
Patients can select and use the adjustment options in the display quickly and easily. Functions that the care staff has locked are not visible for the patient.
This intuitive operation makes it suitable for use even by people with restricted capabilities.
During height adjustments, the Evario stops automatically at an ergonomically convenient height of 40cm
to allow the patient to get into and out of bed. To avoid inadvertent adjustments to the bed, the LCD handset has separate control levels for patients,
nursing staff and technical personnel. Nursing staff can lock certain adjustment options on their control level for patients, but the EasyCare function still lets
nursing staff use all the options on the bed themselves. The 3rd control level allows technicians to make helpful settings for maintenance and error analysis.
To change between one control level and another, a member of staff simply holds the handset in front of an unlocking magnet in the safety side (centre).
While the handset is not in use, it can be hung in a holder on the side of the bed where it is protected from damage (right).
Integrated control panel in the safety sides
Where the Evario is fitted with Protega safety sides, the bed can optionally be controlled using
innovative control units. These stylish flat control panels are integrated in the safety sides on both sides of the bed. On the inward-facing side,
there is a clear and simple control surface for the patient (left), while the outward-facing side displays additional options for nursing staff or
technicians (right).
The bed’s control gives the patient an intuitive choice between 4 adjustment options: Height adjustment of the bed,
raising the backrest and the thigh rest and changing from a lying position to a comfortable sitting position. This makes it easier for the patient to
read, eat or get up, thereby promoting the recovery process.
The outward-facing side of the box is designed with a large display and makes it possible, as with the LCD handset, to select separate control levels
for nursing staff and technical personnel. In addition to normal adjustments, this can be used by nursing staff to select medically indicated positions such as
a Trendelenburg position.
In an emergency, a nurse can also set the bed to the CPR position immediately at the touch of
a button. Just like on the LCD handset, the EasyCare function lets nursing staff use all bed adjustment options themselves, even ones that are locked for patients.
As a practical and positive aid for nursing staff, 3 preset backrest positions are provided. These can be selected at the touch of a button on the
Evario control panel while staying close to the patient. If the backrest is raised 15°, the patient is brought into a comfortable resting position (left).
An angle of 30° relieves pressure on the lungs and facilitates breathing (centre left). An angle of 45° makes it easier to eat meals and talk
to others at eye level (centre right). A cardiac chair position can also be set quickly using arrows on the display (right).
Digital assistance systems
Stiegelmeyer develops digital assistance systems under the name of “e-help”.
The hospital bed uses data from sensors to inform nursing staff about important changes. This provides even better protection for patients and assists staff
in their day-to-day tasks. An important element is the optional Out-of-Bed system. This system uses a load sensor in the backrest of the Evario to detect when
a fall-prone patient leaves the bed. If the patient does not return to bed, nursing staff is informed via the in-house call system.
It is possible to set time frames of 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 2 minutes or 15 minutes. The Out-of-Bed system is also able to switch on an under bed light.
This conveniently casts a light on the floor and helps patients to find their way in the dark (large image).
If the Evario is equipped with an acoustic brake signal, it alerts the user to the fact that the bed is not braked even though the mains cable is plugged in.
This can prevent falls resulting from the patient getting out of bed although the bed has not been immobilised.
It also prevents damage to electrical sockets and cables since the user is reminded to unplug the mains cable before moving the bed (right).
Reliable hygiene in the fight against multi-resistant pathogens
Drug-resistant superbug infections are a major challenge for every hospital.
Shorter hospital stays and increased patient turnover make infection prevention even more challenging. Reliable bed hygiene plays a key role in combatting this risk.
The Evario is ideally designed for thorough cleaning and disinfection – both by hand as well as by optional machine washing.
Stiegelmeyer can look back on more than 40 years’ experience in designing and manufacturing machine washable beds.
This expertise is reflected in the Evario’s design: The bed incorporates large smooth surfaces that do not allow dirt to settle unnoticed.
Both the Intercontinental (left) and Stelo (centre left) models of head and footboard enhance these outstanding hygienic properties.
Removable elements and curved forms facilitate manual cleaning and assist staff with their day-today tasks (centre right)
which also save the hospital time and money.

The standard Evario model, already suited for manual reprocessing, is manufactured with IPX6
protection and thus provides optimal conditions for cleaning. Stiegelmeyer defined the additional protection IPX6W (washable), which provides a special moisture guard.
This provides operators of hospital beds with a strong weapon in the fight against dangerous superbugs. An ideal washing position is already pre-set
on the LCD-handset and integrated control panel (above right). Even with the plastic Protega safety sides, the Evario is suitable for automatic bed
washers – a decisive advantage over comparable models (right).
Facilitating the work of care staff in the daily hospital routine

Benefits for nursing staff
Back-friendly working thanks to large height adjustment range of up to 91cm
Effortlessly manoeuvrable bed
Preset treatment positions for the bed on the integrated control panel
Nursing staff are faced with demanding physical and emotional situations during the daily hospital routine.
The Evario brings relief to many situations with its intuitive ease of use. Of particular note is the large height adjustment range of 32cm to 91cm – even
tall nursing staff can work at a back-friendly ergonomic hip-level height (left). The bed can also be supplied on request with a fixed headboard which
does not move when height adjustments are made. This rules out the possibility early on of furnishings in the room becoming damaged.
Wheeling a bed is often a challenge in narrow rooms and corridors. This is where the optional 5th castor provides a good advantage.
It enables nursing staff to manoeuvre the bed extremely accurately and protect the bed and furnishings from collisions (right).
The integrated 28cm bed extension stands out with its ease of use. It is so easy to extend that it places virtually no strain on the backs of nursing staff using it (left).
The extremely sturdy head and footboards are easy to grasp hold of and make the bed easy to handle. An easy to activate locking mechanism prevents the head or footboards
from being inadvertently removed.
The many useful details about the Evario add up to a cohesive whole.
In an emergency, the CPR position can instantly be set by hand using a lever on the backrest (centre). The conveniently backlit control units are
a safety feature even in the dark (right). The preset treatment positions which the bed provides considerably simplify the work of nursing staff.
The extra time that they gain as a result can be spent in interacting with the patient.
Comfort and safety for the patient

Patients in general have become taller and heavier over a period of many years.
Hospitals can now be ideally prepared for this with the Evario. The mattress base has an optional length of 210cm and can be extended up to 228cm.
A 100cm wide version in combination with a length of 200cm is available on request (centre top). A bed extension is also possible for this.
The high safe working load of 260kg is suitable for heavier patients. The Evario provides ample room and comfort in every situation –
this is also due to the retracting backrest which prevents uncomfortable shearing forces during adjustments. At only 32cm, the lowest position of
the bed promotes fall prevention (left).
Benefits for nursing staff
Generous space due to bed extension and option of special dimensions
Safety and mobility due to split safety sides and low height of down to 32cm
Easy intuitive bed adjustments with LCD handset or control panel
Both the mobile LCD handset and the solidly integrated bed control panel allow patients to
easily and conveniently adjust the Evario to suit their needs.
The split Protega safety sides and handrails running all round the bed foster patient mobility.
Patients can get up by themselves and have a handrail available all round to hold onto (right). Both the V-shaped opening in the Protega and
the slimline bars on the ¾ safety side provide an unobstructed view into the room or out of the window and prevent the patient from feeling confined (lower centre).
The Evario’s great comfort and stylish good looks make it a hospital bed that you can feel at home in. Patients can regain strength and renewed
confidence in this bed which has a positive effect on the speed of their recovery.
Cost-effective benefits due to high quality

The Evario is a worthwhile investment that gives the hospital an outstanding value-for-money bed
that saves costs in the long term. All components have been subjected to thorough testing, far in excess of standard procedures, to ensure the bed has a long life
cycle. Thanks to its intelligent design the Evario is also protected against many potential damages.
The integrated control panel is extremely resistant to damage since it cannot be ripped out or fall off. If a repair becomes necessary after all,
the control panel can simply be removed without the need to dismantle the safety side. A versatile range of wall deflection rollers and wall buffer cones protects
the bed and wall from damage (centre). Stiegelmeyer guarantees that spare parts will be available for all components of the bed for up to 15 years after the date
of purchase. The Evario is “Made in Germany”.
Benefits for nursing staff
A bed to meet many demands
Long life cycle thanks to proven quality
Easy maintenance
15-year spare part service
Excellent hygiene properties
Maintenance of the bed is particularly easy. Intelligent and defined cable routing prevents damage.
The technician control level on the LCD handset and control panel provides useful settings on maintenance, error analysis and reset functions (lower right).
The bed’s control is easy to access under the backrest. For electroless operation there is a choice between a lead-acid battery or the strong lithium-ion battery.
The latter enables a greater number of adjustment cycles and has to be replaced less often. If a replacement does become necessary, both batteries are easy to reach.
The optional fixed headboard does not move when height adjustments are made so that collisions with room furnishings are avoided (left).
The head and footboards and safety sides can be freely combined. It is possible to choose the classic Stelo headboard in combination with the new Protega safety
sides (top right). Thus, hospitals can increase the quality of rooms with individual aesthetics. Its modular system makes the Evario a bed that adapts itself
to very specific requirements, goes easy on the budget and makes everyday life easier and brighter for people in hospital.
