The Vertica Homecare mimics the natural sequence of movements to gently lift the resident from a prone to a sitting position, and from there to an upright position.
Turning the resident during mobilisation is not necessary avoiding stress.

Vertica Table for eating

With the Vertica Homecare residents can assume a genuine sitting position, which enables them to take meals or receive visitors in comfort. Furthermore, this brings them to the same eye–level as other people, which is good for their self–esteem. Ultimately, independence and freedom of movement stimulate our feeling of wellbeing.

Recovery and Well-being

Bed rest is considered a key to recovery and well-being. While bed rest is good, it also has been realized that residents need to be kept active to avoid the development of physical and mental problems. Sitting and walking is good for residents, but the strain of standing can be exhausting on her and the carer. The Burmeier Vertica Homecare Bed solves these problems with an innovative concept: the bed brings the resident to a convenient seating position in an ergonomic way that is gentle and painless.

Early VERTICAlisation begins with a sitting position

Mobilisation from the bed starts with a sitting position. While lying in bed, meals cannot be easily eaten and caring activities are difficult to perform. Social activities such as interacting with family and friends, and even reading and watching TV is awkward and not practical. Sitting upright with feet firmly supported is a step towards maintaining the quality of life for any resident.
Mobilisation can reduce the risk of pneumonia, a thrombosis or a pressure ulcer, mental confusion and the need of analgesics.

PERSPECTIVES are changing.
The sitting position of the Vertica Homecare is far better than any adjustment options on even the best conventional care bed. In modern care beds, patients can get into a comfortable sitting position with the help of an adjustable mattress base. Vertica Homecare goes one step further: It is transformed into a chair with the backrest and lower leg angle up to 90° in relation to the seat. Comfortable positioning for the resident's back, hips and knees over longer periods. This posture is more suitable for reducing cramps, for breathing easier and for eating and drinking. Breakfast or a leisurely coffee in the Vertica Homecare offers a new quality of life.

The foot board can be used as a practical table for meals, therapeutic purposes and makes social meetings with friends and relatives much easier. Now the resident need not accept that others can look down on her, but can be at eye level and be back on normal terms. The positive psychological effect of this is significant and contributes to maintaining cognitive abilities.

Mobilization at home

It is only a small step from SITTING to STANDING.
If residents manage to sit up in bed properly again, they have made the first step towards standing. With the Vertica Homecare, residents can raise or be raised easily in a controlled way. After being bed ridden for a long time, possibily because of a fall, sitting upright with feet firmly supported is a step towards normality. It provides early independence and socialisation of the patient.

The gentle mobilization by the Vertica Homecare gives a feeling of security to people in need of care. The bed feels comfortable and natural.

Vertica Homecare makes the LIVES OF CARERS easier.
The Vertica Homecare is ideal for old people allowing them to paricipate in everyday life. It can also be a great support for those suffering from multiple sclerosis or in the course of rehabilitation assisting to stand after stroke. Mobilization of bedridden residents can be a physical burden for relatives and caregivers. The Vertica Homecare is a great support strengthing health and motivation, avoiding back strain and treatment costs. Depending on the condition of the resident, the mobilization process with the Vertica Homecare will necessitate only one extra person to provide the support for the mobilization activity. Less space is required in the room and less additional equipment is needed.

Safety first

Practical SAFETY begins with a good construction.
Residents who are particularly weaker will feel secure with the table to protect them from tilting forward. Easily accessible grab handles which can be adjusted to a position suitable for the resident guarantee stability and a sense of security.

The MultiFlex safety sides are fitted as standard, and with a height of 415mm above the mattress base, protect the occupant from falling out of bed, while still leaving enough room to get in and out of bed easily.

Vertica is designed with large rounded corners, less joins and spacious surfaces to allow for easy cleaning for optimal hygiene.
