Rail Diameters25mm Diameter - Light Duty - Suitable for use by children and those with small grip, and for towel rails, etc. 32mm Diameter - Standard Duty - Suitable for general use by adults with reasonable manual dexterity and average grip. 38mm Diameter - Heavy Duty - For use by adults in situations involving frequent heavy use where additional strength is required. Institutional and public use. Design StandardsEisegrip products include the full range of designs required to meet Australian Standards and Building Regulations. Some of these are drawn from AS1428.1 - 2001 which specifies the minimum design requirements to enable access by people with disabilities. The provision of a higher standard of facilities is permissible. Multi-purpose RailFitting As A Grab RailMP Rails suit just about any application where more specialised designs are not required.. When two or more are to be used in conjunction, it is advisable to consider other 'combination' designs in the Eisegrip range which often reduces materials and labour costs.
Fitting As A HandrailUnless continuous custom systems are required, MP rails can be easily used as Handrails for circulation in corridors, etc., in standard or custom lengths. Extra Heavy 50mm diameter Handrails and fittings available as custom manufacture items. For disabled access compliance to building codes - 50mm is the maximum permitted size for Handrails.
Bath Grab RailsTwo design groups cater for corner location or for island baths. For corner baths a continuous horizontal rail is recommended for maximum safety.
Island bath wall mounted rails, especially for hospital use need to project 300mm to be accessible to user and therefore can be subjected to severe loading. For secure fixing, these rails should incorporate four fixing flanges.
Shower Grab RailsGenerally comprises a horizontal rail of 600mm typical length beneath the shower controls. An adjacent vertical rail is often desirable and the two can be readily combined into an 'L' shape rail for continuity and reduced number of fixings. For disabled access facilities, a vertical shower head support Grab Rail is available for adjustable height handshower fitting. Many people experience as much difficulty and risk moving into and away from shower areas, as they do while actually showering. A horizontal approach Rail should be considered - and again this can be incorporated with the others into one piece.
Toilet Grab RailsDesign is governed by many factors including position of pan, obstructing doorways or wash basins, access requirements for the disabled or ambulant disabled, and suitability for general use. Designs of 40° or 90° angle shapes are the ideal choice wherever practical - being proven as the most beneficial for all users.
Combination designs extending around rear of pan are required for some wheelchair users or to comply with building regulations, and should be installed with a disabled type toilet suite. (Avoid 'close-coupled' suites which may not have sufficient clearance for raising seat and lid.)
